Message Regarding COVID-19 and the Vancouver Island Symphony Concerts
Due to the public health advisory announced by Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer on March 12, 2020, the Vancouver Island Symphony has cancelled all concerts taking place in March including this weekend.
We are committed to the health and safety of everyone attending our concerts and events. We have been and continue to monitor the global response to the COVID-19 situation and are continuing to rely on the information published by the BC Centre for Disease Control, the Provincial Government and the Federal Government.
When Dr. Henry made her announcement today, our musicians were in rehearsal for our sold out weekend concerts. Therefore, they will be paid their wages.
We hope that instead of a refund, you will donate your tickets and the VIS will offer you a tax receipt for the value of your tickets. This will assist your Symphony in an important way – as we depend on ticket sales to operate.
The VIS will offer a refund if you feel you cannot support us in this way.
We will continue to provide as much up-to-date information as possible in the coming days. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your support of your Symphony at this critical time. Please stay safe and we hope to see you soon.
